The food and service are 5 stars. The lower rate is because of handicapped accessibility. Parking is convenient near the door. The building is old, built well before the ADA law of 1990. The entrance is not easy for a mobility impaired person using a walker or wheelchair. The entry threshold has a short steep incline. Once inside, there are two levels for seating. The upper level is easy and the lower level has a steep ramp, but workable with assistance. The restroom is difficult for mobility impaired, but workable with a wheelchair or walker. If you have no mobility issues, you will be returning satisfied customers.

Ask for Pat and you can't go wrong! Fantastic food, top 2 hot sauce in town.

Went to the Original on a whim. It's been a while. However the Original did not skip a beat. Cody was our bartender and provided excellent drinks & service. Definitely reminded me on what great service & drinks are!!

Some people might not be crazy about a 'hole in the wall' but this place has been around for a long time and I love their food! Best hot sauce around and the chips are always fresh. I've never had anything from the menu that I didn't love! I wish I lived or worked closer so I could eat here more often!

Loved my ice cold frosty mug of beer with my Roosevelt Special. This 1st time customer throughly enjoyed my meal and time at The Original. I will be back.

Best Tex-Mex / Mexican food we’ve had in DFW. Danny, the waiter was fantastic, quick service, amazing food. Highly recommended.
Martin Lisius
Traditional Tex-Mex in quaint, pieced together building with slanted floors (ala Casa Magnetica). It’s a vibrant, communal gathering spot for friends and family. FDR ate here in the 1930s and there’s a menu dish named for him. Salsa is fresh and flavorful, served with thick, crispy chips.

Service was great. Food was good, and I would eat here again. Queso was a little bland, this the 4cstars. Salsa was excellent.

You'd think Camp Bowie, restaurant in business a long time, and high prices are a guarantee for a good dining experience.Quality of the food was mediocre. Queso is yellow, watered down goo for which they charge you way too much. Taco B serves better food for pennies on their dollar. When our served Fajitas went cold on our table, and the tortillas were still not brought to us, I had to get up and inform the bartender, asking him for tortillas (no waiter in sight). He shook me off, not giving a darn and continued visiting with someone at the bar.The two stars are for the friendly waitress, and also the chips/guacomole. Will not be back, and know the bartender will not miss us. He couldn't care less about his patrons.

Love this place! Great food and best guacamole around!

I was expecting more out of this place and was disappointed in the food. The atmosphere was fabulous and I had high hopes the food would match the authentic feel of the building and decorations. I ordered the Roosevelt Special which included a cheese enchilada in a beef sauce that this restaurant was voted one of the best. It tasted like wolf brand chili with onions on top. I did like the service, salsa and the drinks but I will not be back or recommend this place to people who are looking to be "wowed" by food flavor.

Very large party & Ashley (sp?) was great.

Great food... The fajita Nacho's were great.

My grandparents started going here back in the early 30's and the 2nd and 3rd generation still come to this very day. One of the best things about it is that the menu has remained the same. Just can't beat their enchiladas.

Best nachos. Real Mexican refried beans. Too much real cheese. Can order off menu the Mexican spaghetti. It's really good Mexican food.

The Original has been my favorite TexMex restaurant in FW for nearly 50 years. Great food options, great wait staff and consistent quality. Prices have risen in the last few years though making it not very reasonable for a family of 4 on a regular basis. Parking can be a challenge at times.

The food is great but why do I pay 15$ for 2 enchiladas rice and beans it's over priced but good but at least throw in another enchilada for 15$ I can get good ones for 10 for 3 and the sides. Otherwise good food and employees just over priced. By a lot.

Old school greatness. Food is great. Building/atmosphere adds to it all

Service was great but I enjoy enchiladas beans and rice at other places more. Probably a personal taste.

Good food, fun and historic. Get the enchiladas. If you are disabled, be careful. It can be hard to get in and out the front door.
Hank Hayden
Everything about this place is amazing! The enchiladas and fajitas are out of this world! Try the Ana’s Dip if you can because it is very good. The place is always very clean and the service is good too.
Pete Valletutti

I've eaten at Mexican Inn for decades, and have never been disappointed. Prices are very reasonable, food, service and ambiance are excellent. I especially like that Mexican Inn isn't super loud like so many restaurants today. You can actually talk with the person you're dining with without having to yell. Absolute best fajitas in the world. Deluxe nachos are fabulous. Everything they serve is very good. Lifetime customer here.

Some of the best mexican food in fort worth. Much better than Joe T''s if you ask me!! Their service is on point and I've never had a bad time here. Great for parties!

Hands down best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. Tacos taste like what you imagine a taco would taste like after being trapped on a vegan island for a year. The nachos are beyond incredible. They cover each chip with every ingredient. Everything is made from scratch. They have set the standard for Mexican restaurants.
Andras Earberry
Overall I really liked it the flautas were really good and the jalapeno poppers were awesome, the quesadilla nachos were pretty good too and I liked the guacamole. I had heard that the chips and salsa were really good, however that's actually what I like the least LOL. Salsa's very chunky and tomato tasting lacking salt and spiciness, and the chips seem like they came straight out of a bag which is not what I was expecting.
cathryn akers
Good food fast. good prices.

The flour tortillas were not good at all however the tacos are made me on corn tortillas were excellent. I had the carnitas tacos and I recommend them

I’ve been going to the Original since I was going to TCU in the early 90’s. Chips & salsa are great, margaritas are great, ambiance is great.....but I NEVER order anything but the beef Chile Rellenos. I won’t order rellenos anywhere else. Best ever!!
Logan Korte
Good, simple Mexican food. Of all the Mexican restaurants I've been to, finally one has gotten the Spanish rice and refried beans right. A+ on the chips and salsa. The staff was very friendly and the cafe has a good atmosphere. There are even a few good vegetarian options! It's a good place to go for a date when you don't want too over-the-top fancy while still having a fun evening.
Ken Wrobel
Food and service were great. Fun feeling like you stepped back in time as you look around. I don't think they've redecorated in decades and they shouldn't any time soon.
Fred West
For Mexican food..ok. You will find better options in Fort Worth. You will probably run into old friends here. That can of course be a not so good thing.😛
Cordell Clark
Food was very bland. There was barely any flavor. This place may have been good at one time but, it is just mediocre now.
Deana Morris
We’ve been going to eat at the Original for over 30 years! The food has always been unique and truly original!! The Margaritas are very authentic and tasty! It always feel like home there. A true Fort Worth experiencia.
Chance Clark
The best in Ft. Worth. Nice that is mostly locals unlike Joe T's. The hidden gem of the west side!

I wanted it to be good … there were about 25/35 people in the whole restaurant - 47 mins later I got my food. The wrong food! I asked for the waitress three times and she still wouldn't come over. I took a couple bites thinking I would just pick at the parts I would eat - the rice had a scorched taste, the beans were so salty you literally couldn't eat them, the tortillas were hard as a rock, the enchilada (ordered beef got cheese) the cheese was cold not melted and clumped together instead of melty, velvety smooth - and the service was horrific. I will say the chips and salsa were really good - and the ambience of the restaurant itself is nice ... but I wont go back.

I love this place. It has been years si co I have eaten here, but the experience hasn't changed. They have a wide selection of authentic Mexican dishes and as they sign in the restaurant says, "If you leave here hungry, it's your fault." Good service, excellent food and damn good margaritas.
